Off The Wall

This was a great week.
Not only did I have great fun with friends, celebrating my birthday, but I also participated some fierce competition in Seattle's second year of "Off The Wall" aerosol art battle, held at the infamous Sodo legal wall.  The wall is divided up into 15ft by 18ft blocks, for each 3 to 4 person team to complete in 5 hours.
Teams are judged upon : originality, theme, color and composition, can control and technique, and unity.

Once the battle began, we realized that our ladder was no where near tall enough to reach the top.We ran to the nearby alley, and lugged a couple of palettes to our section, making the ladder a good 2 feet taller. They smelled like hot garbage, but it was worth the reach.

From the previous year, I knew it was going to take a lot of teamwork to complete a production in 5 hours. Not only that, one of our members flaked the day before, so we knew we were going to have to really rock it.

final touches...

It was getting pretty suspenseful towards the end, and definitely a close call. After judges ( KEL 1st, KEEP ONE, Lucky Lucy) were done studying and scoring, it was announced...by a 3 point lead...WE WON! I stood there, shocked for a moment. I couldn't believe it. Had I seriously won this battle 2 years in a row?!

Big thanks to 206Zulu, Grafcards, SODO wall, and HD Estates for throwing the event.
